Weber is a great company. Best Grill yet! June 30, 2008 I have had grills for over 25 years. My last one I bought from Costco, all stainless steel and about $[...]. It never did work correctly, it just burned everything. I tried different methods, even indirect as with a Weber Kettle. Even the side burner could not be turned down enough to make it useful. The problem was in the design, the Weber has what they call flavor bars. The fat that drips down NEVER flares!! I have not burned anything on the new E-320. The temperature is easily regulated, what a difference! I bought mine from Amazon and got free shipping ($[...]. total). When I unpacked it there was a small ding, about 2 inches long and 1/2 inch indent on the lid. I called Weber and asked if they had a repair kit. The girl at Weber registered my purchase and told me a new lid would be shipped to me imediately! Weber is a great company and the E320 is a great product. I miss a drawer for things like timers and chips but I got a couple of metal pans that fit below the left side drip pan and they do ok. Overall, I highly recomend this grill and Weber as a company that takes care of it's customers...
Weber Comes Through Again June 28, 2008 This is our third grill from Weber, all of which have been an upgrade. First one was their charcoal kettle grill. Overall, we've been using the Weber grills for almost 20 years.
"Quality" is the word. Sure, you'll find comparable types of grills at a cheaper price. BUT if you look at the materials of these other grills they're flimsy and poorly made. You'll end up paying for two of these grills for more than the price of one of the Webers.
Biggest reason for us getting the E-320 was the side burner. You can warm up your sauces and cook your side dishes on it without taking up room on your main grilling surface.
As the saying goes, "You get what you pay for" and I paid for a high quality grill. Otherwise, I wouldn't keep buying from Weber.
A Feel-Good Purchase June 28, 2008 I decided on the Weber after giving a lot of consideration to the new infrared grills from CharBroil. The deciding factor was the pride of ownership after the purchase (based on knowing that the build quality was top-notch) and I'm glad I went the way I did! This grill will sear the heck out of your meat, so I'm not sure how much of an edge the infrared grills would have. One thing to note is that the product description said that the grates were porcelain coated but mine were just cast iron. Assembly was straight-forward although the directions relied solely on pictures and I though some verbiage would help! Anyhow, I'm very satisfied with the grill (looks, build and performance) and my transaction.
Great Grill, it's a Cadillac June 24, 2008 You really won't be disappointed if you make this purchase. After going through a Wal Mart special (Brinkmann) grill in just over 3 years, I decided to purchase the Weber I should have bought in the first place.
Pros:
1. Enamel surface is easier to keep clean than stainless steel. Despite the fad of going with stainless, my earlier stainless grill was stained and didn't look clean after a year. I expect this grill to hold up much better. If you have stainless appliances in your kitchen, multiply the challenge of keeping them clean by about 5x for a grill. You have smoke, grease, etc. from grilling.
2. Sturdy, sturdy, sturdy.
3. Cast Iron grates perform great. (I did season the grates with Crisco as recommended by the Weber site. Instructions are there.)
4. Thermometer seems extremely accurate.
5. Side burner starts easily, as has a nice low setting for simmering. (On my other grill, low was equivalent to Medium or even Medium High on a standard cooktop. The Weber side burner will no go as low as my natural gas stovetop, but it is still lower than others I've used.)
6. Knobs work great.
7. Starter is excellent.
8. Cookbook has been helpful for cooking times, methods, and understanding direct vs. indirect heat.
Cons:
1. Some assembly instructions are hard to understand. Watch out for the Black anodized screws vs. stainless screws. They use the same screw diameter and length, so I built the grill with the wrong screws and had to change them out. They provided stainless for the exterior facing screws. I think overall Weber should just provide a single type of screw (stainless) to avoid confusion. I don't believe there is a performance issue between the two, but I could be wrong.
2. As others have said, putting the knobs on the right table facing up cuts into your space quite a bit.
3. Stainless tables. As I mentioned in the pros section, I'd really rather not deal with Stainless and keeping it looking good. Overall, I think this grill will be much easier to keep clean than a full stainless model, and I appreciate the sanitary aspect of the stainless, but this is an outdoor tool and I think the Stainless is ineffective. Perhaps in future versions Weber could use Silestone (Microban would be great) or something less susceptible to staining.
4. So far I haven't figured out how to attach the tank to the gas scale. Neat idea but I tried to get the tank on it and wasn't able to. Perhaps when the tank is lighter I'll be able to figure it out.
Final Con (Not really a con at all) get ready to re-learn how to BBQ to some extent. If you are like me, you probably had certain spots on your old grill that cooked at different temperatures.... Pull the veggies to one side to get them off of the heat, etc. This grill is consistent and you have to break some bad habits, but you will be happy and the food tastes great. 100% pleased with this purchase.
Minerva June 24, 2008 Overall I am extremely satisfied with the grill and it's performance. Assembly took approximately 1hr and 45 minutes, but it was fairly simple and straightforward. Cast iron grates, even temp cooking surface, and the amount of space has really impressed me.
Don't forget to invest in a grill cover. I had to make a run to my local Home Depot to get one after purchase.
